BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Public Health Nursing: School Nursing Pathway

This course has been designed to produce Specialist Community Public Health practitioners who are safe, competent, and deliver professional practice in a community public health setting, meeting Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing. The course will prepare you to work with communities, families, and individuals to improve health and reduce health inequalities, to optimize life chances, in partnership with people and organizations, in support of the government health and social agenda. On successful completion of this course, you will be able to register with the NMC on the third part of register as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. We will also support you in developing your leadership skills on the program, to plan and lead services and initiatives which promote health improvement, as well as community practitioner prescribing as applicable to your role.

Employability

The aim of this program is to support you in the development and enhancement of essential knowledge and skills as a registered practitioner and equip you for a career in specialist community public health nursing. This will be actualized through building upon the theoretical and clinical basis of your specialized area of practice and developing your intellectual, personal and professional capabilities. Our educational program and learning environment has a contemporary focus that serves to meet the NMC Standards for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (NMC 2004) and to help you to become a well-rounded graduate, capable of making a positive and valued contribution in the field of School Nursing.
